Joanne's Story

I have a liver shunt as well as a grade 2 left luxating patella and a grade 3 right luxating patella. I need to be on a liver diet forever as well as medical management with metronidazole, lactulose, and levetiracetam. Surgery may be possible with a consult/CT scan to determine the full scope of my shunt, but in the meantime, my condition is really well managed with medication and special food! My adopters should be prepared for ongoing veterinary consultation about my condition (which, honestly, because I'm doing just fine right now, may not be any more frequent than annual checkins like a regular dog). Please don't be scared away by my condition!
