JO (Johanas)'s Story
Jo (Johanas) / 3yrs / Male / MIXED BREED / WEIGHT: 12lbs and 5kgs) / Rescued from Barbados / Currently fostered in Oshawa

Good with other dogs
Unknown with cats and kids but likely okay
Crate trained
House training in progress

Note: Small piece of each ear is missing but fully healed and no issues

Jo (short for Johanas, or “tiny jumping bean”) is a lovable little guy with two ears that look like someone took a nibble out of each one. They give him a permanently windswept, slightly scandalized expression, which is honestly perfect for who he is: a spunky, goofy, puppy-hearted boy who approaches life with equal parts enthusiasm and suspicion.

Jo lives his days bouncing between zooming around the backyard like a caffeinated squirrel and flopping dramatically into the nearest soft surface as if he’s just completed a triathlon. He loves toys, he loves wrestling with his brother, and he loves being carried on walks once he decides he’s done enough “walking” for the day — usually around the 15-minute mark. After that, he transforms into a tiny prince who expects to be chauffeured so he can enjoy the scenery without doing any of the work.

When Jo first arrived, he wasn’t so sure about… well, anything. New rooms? Suspicious. Stairs? Absolutely not. The basement? A portal to another dimension! But he’s been growing braver every single day, and now he trots up and down stairs like he’s been doing it his whole life. Optionally, Jo would love to be adopted together with his brother but otherwise, he just needs a bit of patience, a bit of reassurance, and ideally another dog around to show him that the world is not, in fact, out to get him. He adores other dogs, respects the seniors like a polite little gentleman, and feels much more confident when he has a buddy nearby.

Jo is working on his house training and doing well with a consistent routine. He’s crate-trained, especially when the house is quiet, and he’ll happily settle in with a peanut-butter Kong like it’s his evening entertainment. He’s not a big barker, though he may let out a joyful little shout when dinner arrives or when his favourite humans come home. Grooming is still a “treat-bribery required” situation, but he tries his best, even when he’s not convinced baths are a necessary part of life.

He’s sweet, silly, expressive, and endlessly entertaining — the kind of dog who makes you laugh even when he’s doing absolutely nothing. With his quirky ears, his puppy energy, and his big, brave heart, Jo is well on his way to becoming someone’s unforgettable companion. All he needs is a loving home, a patient human, and preferably a doggy sibling to help him keep growing into the joyful little character he’s meant to be.

Neutered / Microchipped / Vaccinations up to date

**PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED -

https://caninehaven.org/dog-application/

For inquiries please do not use Adoptapet/Petfinder inquiry button - send an email directly to hello@caninehaven.org--
