JoJo's Story

JoJo came into rescue because her owner could not take care of her. Her owner was older and had two other senior dogs and JoJo was just too much for her. She admitted she should not have gotten a puppy and felt that she needed a home that was more active and could give her more time and attention. Her owner stated that JoJo loved her grandson and seems to be great with kids. She is a smaller dog though at 13-14 pounds so keep that in mind with very young children. Her size can he considered a sturdier built small dog but as with any dog, responsible observations of interactions between the dog and children should be routine to ensure everyone's safety. JoJo is only about 7 months old so she is basically still a puppy and is learning what is and is not acceptable. She is figuring out how to be the best dog that she can be and will probably need some help with training and establishing routines. We were told that she is not housebroken but has seemed to do well in the crate when crated overnight. She has done well with the other dogs here and enjoys their company. We are unsure about cats but she should do fine with proper introductions. Being such a young dog, she can really fit in pretty much anywhere with guidance, proper socialization and a bit of patience. She's still, essentially a blank slate who is ready and willing to learn. JoJo is, we think, a chihuahua/corgi mix but may also have some jack russell.
JoJo did ride pretty well also so she would probably do great as a travel companion. She's a sweet girl who loves attention and who will make any family a wonderful companion!
JoJo saw the vet on 9/16/26 and was found to have no issues on her exam. She tested negative for heartworms and has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention. She was also negative on her fecal. JoJo weighed 13.56 pounds as of 9/16/26.
If interested in giving JoJo her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). JoJo's adoption fee will be $300 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for JoJo based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for her, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
