JJ's Story

Personality: Very sweet and playful, he loves getting attention and is very treat motivated. He could be a little impulsive when excited but relaxes at home.

Education: Potty and crate trained and is working on his leash manners. He is not reactive to people and other dogs when he is on a leash.

Favorite Activities: Cuddling, going on long walks and sleeping.

Looking For: A home with another dog to keep him company would be the best but he can adjust to being the only pet, especially if there are humans to keep him company

Special Needs/Concerns:

Bio: Meet JJ - your future best friend, personal shadow, and part-time chaos coordinator

If you're looking for a dog who brings equal parts zoomies and snuggles, JJ is your guy.

At 3 years old and a perfect medium-sized 39 lbs, JJ has mastered the art of balance: he can start his morning like he just had three espressos... and end his day curled up like a sleepy little cinnamon roll. Truly, range.

The vibe:
JJ is sweet, affectionate, and just a tiny bit impulsive (okay, sometimes he makes decisions before consulting his brain but we love a confident king). He's super treat-motivated, eager to connect with his humans, and always down for attention... especially if it leads to cuddles.

Daily highlights include:
- Morning zoomies (non-negotiable)
Leisurely strolls and adventures (Balboa Park approved )
- Strategic napping (he takes this very seriously)
Practicing his "good boy" skills (he's very trainable!)

The roommate review:
He currently lives with another dog and is doing great-he'd likely love a dog sibling with a similar chill-but-playful personality. Having a buddy around actually helps him feel more relaxed when his humans are away.

Things he's working on (we love a self-improvement king):
- Leash manners (right now it's more "freestyle interpretive dance")
- Ignoring squirrels, birds, and cats (they are simply too exciting)
- Being left alone (he's getting better with routine + crate time)

The perks:
Crate trained (and sometimes goes in there by choice-homebody energy)
Potty trained (a true gentleman)
Sweet, cuddly, and loves his people
Playful without being nonstop chaos

The honest fine print:
JJ can be a little sensitive to loud noises, and he may test crate security if he's feeling extra determined (he's basically a tiny escape artist with big dreams). But with consistency and a secure setup, he settles in beautifully.

JJ's dream home:
A loving home where he gets companionship, structure, and a mix of activity + downtime. Bonus points for:
- Another dog friend
- Humans who enjoy walks and couch time equally
- Someone willing to guide him as he continues learning

Final pitch:
JJ is that rare combo of playful goofball and soft, cuddly companion. He's got a huge heart, a curious spirit, and so much potential to be an incredible lifelong buddy.

Also... he will absolutely follow you around like your slightly clingy (but very cute) assistant.

Adopt JJ. Your life will be 87% more joyful and at least 42% more entertaining.

JJ's Adoption fee includes neuter, microchip, DAPP vaccine series and Rabies.

Social Media:
- Instagram @Thefosterswhomustnotbenamed

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
