Jette's Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

---

Meet Jette. This sweet girl arrived to us from CA when her owner didn't want her anymore. She is currently in an active foster home hoping to lose a couple pounds - she's a lab after all and likes her food. Her CA foster home had her for a year and said Jette is just so easygoing and friend to everyone. Now in Washington - her foster mom said:

"She’s fitting right into our family and getting along beautifully with our resident dog, Lucy. She was initially scared of stairs, but with treats (she loves her treats!) and some encouragement, she’s made great progress. The same goes for getting in and out of the car. She went on a 3-mile hike with another SAM dog and joined us for coffee at a bakery. She’s very easygoing and delightful—we love her already. More photos and updates in coming days!"

When you think “2 year-old Lab,” you might expect chaos, but Jette is actually super mellow. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but she’s just as happy relaxing in her dog bed and watching the world go by.

The foster does not currently have cats or kids around, but her calm, gentle demeanor makes them think she’d do okay with both. Sweet really is the word that describes her best.

This dog is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. She is also heart worm negative. Jette appears to be housebroken, but will likely need reminders of the routine in a new home.

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.

Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract and refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience). You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit.

Adoptions typically take place in Snohomish County.
Adoption fee is $375. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

Save-A-Mutt's Adoption Policy
Save-A-Mutt is a Foster Based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes, there is no facility to visit. All adopters are required to fill out an application. As we review the application, we may have questions - and prefer email to ask/answer them. So please check your email regularly. We may remove adoptable animals off of Petfinder while we work on applications - but will contact you to let you know. We like to have one good app per pet as not to disappoint people. It can take a couple days to finish an application, depending on your references, etc. Please let your references know that will be sending emails - they sometime go to junk mail. We enjoy open communication, but we are a volunteer organization, so please be patient. Once we receive all the information we need, we will schedule a phone interview, home check, etc. Thank you and we will be in touch! Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make acceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
