There's nothing quite like a Lab...friendly, outgoing, eager and easy to train. Jett is all that and more! This 5 month old boy is smart and has learned so much in the last month he's been in our care. He's a medium energy pup with great foundational training and all those crazy 8 week old puppy shenanigans out of the way!<br/><br/>Jett was originally found as a stray by our local animal control and the start to his story is one we're certain would break our hearts further if we could actually hear Jett tell it. When we first found him at animal control, he was curled up in the tightest ball he could make himself, perfectly silent, perfectly still, in a kennel blocked by a door and praying no one would notice him. He wouldn't move for us, react to our gentle hello's and other than carrying him out, he wouldn't dare take a step. We fell in love with him the minute we met him. At only 4 months old, his body shook in pure fear just from sitting outside with us. He peed on himself when we first gave him the gentlest pet. All he wanted to do was find any hiding spot and stay far, far away. We knew he hadn't been treated well as a young puppy. His trauma was apparent. But we saw the outgoing, playful and adoring puppy in there; he just needed people to show him. So we did...<br/><br/>Fast forward 1 month and you wouldn't recognize Jett as that terrified puppy anymore. He still needs some reassurance in new places and with new things sometimes, but he's caught on pretty quick that his new life will be nothing like the old one! Other dogs to play with, toys and chew bones, structure, training and best of all, LOVE. Jett is here for it all! <br/><br/>Jett attaches quickly to his human and is doing great with recall work. He is doing extremely well with crate training and has mastered potty training. He will bark in his crate if he needs to go out and go to the door if he's in the house to alert his people. If there's easy in and out access to the yard, he will take himself outside to potty. He's mastering sit, lie down and come. He's food motivated, though maybe a little less so than some Labs you imagine, but he will work for food! :-) He also loves to work for and play with his toys. <br/><br/>Jett loves other dogs and would thrive with another happy-go-lucky dog to romp around the yard with and play chase. He gets a lot of confidence from having his own kind around. He also does very well with cats and if you put him with a dog savvy kitty, they'll be besties in no time! Jett has done wonderfully with children, but he is still 5 months old so will need to continue to learn boundaries and proper engagement...like they're super fun and flop in the wind but the ruffles on your kiddo's favorite shirt actually aren't a toy. It's all typical puppy behaviors and he's learning about things every day, just like a kid. Jett will make an excellent family dog, one that's up for any adventure or just chilling in the yard for a BBQ with the fam. This guy is dynamite and we know his perfect Retriever obsessed family is about to find him!<br/><br/>Jett's adoption fee includes his neuter, microchip, vaccines, dewormings and flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
