This accomplished guy has spent years learning, training, and exploring, and now he's ready to find a forever home where he can be the star of the show.<br/><br/>Jett loves being outdoors and has an energy level that would make any athlete proud. Whether he's racing across the yard, tracking every bird in sight, or showing off his impressive speed, Jett embraces life with enthusiasm. Don't let his athleticism fool you, though. After a good run, he's perfectly happy to settle down nearby with a toy, a comfortable bed, and his favorite people.<br/><br/> Personality & Social Life & Training<br/><br/>One of Jett's greatest qualities is how well-trained he is. He knows an impressive list of commands including sit, down, stay, heel, wait, whoa, and here. He walks beautifully on a leash, rides calmly in the car, has excellent recall, and is completely comfortable in a crate. His foster family describes him as a dream houseguest thanks to all of the training and care he has received throughout his life.<br/><br/>Jett is also incredibly smart and enjoys having a job to do. A former field trial dog, he has attended agility clinics and shown tremendous promise. He loves tennis balls and can make amazing athletic catches while turning on a dime. Whether it's agility, flyball, barn hunt, hiking, or another dog sport, Jett would thrive with an adopter who enjoys keeping his mind and body active.<br/><br/>Jett is trained to be steady to wing and shot and is comfortable and confident in the field. He may enjoy opportunities for field work, allowing him to put his natural abilities and training to good use.<br/><br/>When it comes to people, Jett is friendly, affectionate, and confident. He loves attention, especially butt scratches, and frequently checks in with his humans when spending time outdoors. Once he's had some exercise, he's content to lounge on the porch or deck and simply enjoy being close to the people he loves.<br/><br/> Ideal home<br/><br/>Jett would be happiest as an only dog. While he is comfortable around respectful dogs whose boundaries are well managed, he prefers not to share his home and would love to be the center of attention. His ideal home is an adult household or one with older, teenage children who can appreciate his training, intelligence, and personality.<br/><br/>A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus, giving Jett the freedom to run and explore safely. He is also trained to an e-collar and has excellent recall skills.<br/><br/>One unique thing about Jett is that he doesn't tolerate heat and humidity well. He thrives in cooler climates and would likely be happiest living farther north, where he can comfortably enjoy outdoor adventures without constantly searching for shade and air conditioning.<br/><br/> Health<br/><br/>Jett is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, on heartworm prevention, and ready to start his next chapter.<br/><br/>Noted by his foster<br/><br/>His foster family says that someone is going to be very lucky to welcome him home, and it's easy to see why. Jett brings with him a level of training, companionship, and devotion that is truly uncommon. If you're looking for a loyal best friend, an adventure partner, and a dog who will make you smile every day, Jett may be exactly who you've been waiting for.<br/><br/>Jett is currently located in Virginia and searching for a forever home where he can thrive, preferably in a cooler climate. Could that home be yours?<br/><br/>Current Location: Fincastle, Virginia<br/>Volunteer transport can be arranged in the Continental US, within 1,000 miles of the dog's current location. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) is required for transport. There will be an additional charge of $75.00 required to offset the cost of obtaining a CVI. In most cases, our transport team will be able to arrange transport of your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home. You may apply for a dog outside of the 1,000 mile radius, but you must be willing to make arrangements for transport, which may include flying at your expense, driving to a location within the 1,000 mile radius, or obtaining an independent transport at your expense.
