Jersey's Story
Jersey is a 6-1/2 year old mixed breed who came into care when the other dog in the home had a suspected allergy to her. Jersey is 35 lbs. but should be about 40. She is not a huge dog, and we would consider her medium. Her owners said that when they got her in PEI they were told she was a husky/shepherd but there is definitely something smaller in there, maybe collie, possibly beagle but she is definitely a mix. She blows coat like a husky a couple of times a year and she has a husky howl.

Jersey is an introverted dog. She was timid in her previous home so we know that this is normal for her. Jersey has shown fears of some floor surfaces, laminate, stairs, she has some fears of doorways at times. She is skittish in those areas.

Jersey is not. big fan of the car, but she will allow you to put her in. It could be she had some negative experiences in the car and more positive would help that or it also could be that she feels a bit nauseous about it. In any case someone who travelled a lot may not be the best fit for Jersey.

Jersey walks quite well on leash and likes her walks.

While Jersey has lived with another dog, she was not happy with the situation and did not like the other dog trying to play with her. With us, she has been curious about other dogs, but does mostly seek to avoid them. So best fit may be that she is an only dog.

Jersey has no experience with cats. She does not seem overly interested, but based on her lack of experience we would likely prioritize a home without cats.

Jersey has lived with kids, but she grew up with those kids. Given her timid and nervous manner, we feel her best fit is an adult home or a home with older children who could read her body language and know when she needs space.

Jersey's spay date is Monday, March 23. She will be ready to go home after that date.
