Jersey's Story

How has this girl been in rescue for a year already? Don’t let her graying muzzle fool you. Jersey is sassy but still full of spunky energy and LOTS of love to give!.

Jersey is approximately 7 and found her way to us via a local shelter.

Jersey is currently in a foster home with a two other Danes but her play time with them is supervised. Jersey is not a fan of hyperactive or in your face dogs. She would do best in a home with other laid back dogs or those well past the puppy stage. Ideally, she would love to have the attention all to herself. She has attended several adoption events with her foster mom and has done very well out in public. She has never hurt another dog or been aggressive- she just doesn’t seem to know how to play appropriately with others. She is a bit of a diva and likes to be in charge! Jersey has not been around cats but does seem to have somewhat of a prey drive so a home without cats is probably best.

Jersey LOVES to eat. She came in pretty underweight but it took no time for her to start feeling better. This girl will still lick her bowl clean every time. She has never met a treat that she didn’t like!

Jersey loves to be around her people and loves to snuggle but will retreat to her bed when its time. She is kennel trained and house trained. She rides well in the car and loads up without assistance. Jersey would do best in a home with a fenced in yard for her daily zoomies. However she walks well on leash and with the right family and a plan for exercise she would probably be just fine. She has no recall so leash walks would be required in lieu of a fenced in yard.

Jersey loves to lay out in the sun and keep a watchful eye on the yard. She is quick to alert when there is “stranger danger” such as a possum or other wildlife around. LOL

Jersey is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. She was heartworm positive when she came into rescue but has received treatment and is free of those nasty freeloaders. She is currently fostered in the Pensacola FL area. Out of respect for our foster family's time and privacy, we do NOT arrange meet and greets without an approved application on file.

Jersey's adoption fee is $350. If you're interested in adopting Jersey please go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt to read over our adoption coverage areas and requirements before applying.

PLEASE NOTE: NWFLGDR does not transport. NWFLGDR requires all approved adopters to travel to the foster home to meet and pick up the dog in person. Should the adoption not work out, it is the responsibility of the adopter to travel to bring the dog back to his/her foster parent

NW Florida Great Dane Rescue Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Our adoption requirements are as follows: 1. All Dogs and Cats in your home MUST be spayed or neutered. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet only. 2. All Dogs and outdoor Cats in your home MUST be current and have been kept historically up to date on annual vaccinations and monthly (or semiannual) heartworm and flea prevention. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions to this in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet, ONLY. 3. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to adopt and be able to prove you're financially able to care for a great dane should a medical emergency arise. 4. You must own the property in which you live or your landlord must be willing to verify that you are allowed to have a Great Dane in your rental home. We check property records.? 5. Our Great Danes require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active danes. Generally, a six-foot or higher privacy fencing is preferred. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the Dane's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable. 6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors. 7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the Great Dane. 8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dane in the location that he/she is being fostered. In addition, if the adoption does not work out, it is your responsibility to bring the dane safely back to us. 9. There may be multiple applications for the same Dog. Our Great Danes are placed in the home we believe most suitable for them, based upon their individual needs and temperament. 10. Before applying below, please expect this application process to take about two weeks. If you are applying from out of area or state, please expect a slight delay. It will take us more time to get the home visit set up. At any time, if you have questions about the status of your application, please email the rescue at nwflgdr@gmail.com.
