Jersey's Story

Hi, my name is Jersey! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Curious, snack fiend
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history with kids so we are recommending teens (13 years +) who have experience with dogs.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history. Slow and supervised introductions required if attempting to introduce to a feline friend.
-Can Live with Dogs: Might be okay with the right match which would be another higher energy dog who is well socialized. He would likely enjoy going home with the other dog he was found with, although it is not required.
-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended since Jersey seems to be used to more rural settings, but as long as he is given plenty of time to adjust it may be considered.
-Potty Trained: Seems to be
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Highly recommended but not required for adoption.
-Energy Level: High
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes a neuter
-Additional Information: Jersey was found out in the county as a stray running around with another dog. It took a few people to wrangle them into safety but they have been settling in and enjoying their time getting snacks and affection here at the shelter. Jersey will definitely need plenty of time to adjust to a new home as he can still be nervous when trying new things. Gentle affection and a treat go a long ways with him. He would likely enjoy doing food puzzles and scent work for mental stimulation. Jersey is excited to find a best friend and learn new things with his forever family! If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
