Jersey's Story

Jersey is a small, young, friendly beagle who was found on the road late at night in Williamsburg, VA right before Christmas. The person who found him was heading home to New Jersey and since it was late at night and animal control was not open, he took Jersey all the way up to New Jersey with him. When he realized he couldn't keep him due to a family member's allergies, he brought Jersey all the way back to Williamsburg so he could find a great home here in Virginia.

Jersey is a friendly, sweet, young dog who greets everyone with tail wagging. He gets along with the other foster dogs and likes playing with them and toys.

He loves his walks and is pretty good on the leash. We are still working on house breaking (mostly marking, which should improve once he is neutered next week.) He is able to sleep through the night without any accidents. He doesn't mind being crated and has gone in it by himself to nap during the day.

He is pretty smart and learned the doggie door instantly, and will sit nicely for a treat or his meals. But then he does love food. He likes to be with his people and follow you around like a loyal companion would.

Jersey did test positive for heartworms so we have started him on medication. We will pay for his heartworm treatment so the adopter will not be responsible for that cost. He is UTD on vaccines, micro-chipped and neutered.

He will make a great companion or family dog. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Homes Fur Hounds, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
1. Once you have identified the dog(s) you are interested in meeting, you must submit an Adoption Application. You can find the application at https://www.homesfurhounds.org 2. Be patient. We occasionally have a high volume of applications, especially on puppies. 3. If your application is approved you will be contacted to arrange a meet and greet with the dog(s) you are interested in meeting. Whenever we have more than one applicant who is approved, we set up the meet and greet in the order in which the applications were received. 4. We are a small rescue group and do require home checks. Therefore, we only adopt to VA, NC and MD. Exceptions are made for medically needy or seniors if no qualified applicant is located in our adoption area. 5. We do keep applications on file for 6 months, so even if you aren’t selected for a particular dog, if you see another dog of interest, let us know and we will consider your application at that time. 6. Please don’t be offended if you are not selected to adopt. We try to match the dog with the BEST home for them. Just because you weren’t selected for a specific dog does not mean you can’t apply for another one. 7. Our adoption fee is $300.00.
