Jerri's Story

**Foster Home Needed - Currently in Boarding**

Meet Jerri! This sweet girl was pulled from the shelter back in March after an urgent plea from one of their amazing volunteers. Jerri had been found as a stray and was not doing well in the shelter environment due to the stress and needed out STAT! She was also suffering from entropion eyes, which is an abnormality of the eyelids in which the eyelid rolls inward. The treatment is surgery and as soon as we could, she had her surgery done on both eyes and she is now fully healed and ready for her forever home!

Jerri is approximately two years old and is an American Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier mix! She is a strong girl who is absolutely strikingly beautiful. But she's not all looks - she's also the sweetest girl you'll ever meet :) She can be slightly timid at first, but her confidence gets better every day and her favorite thing to do is be with her humans. She absolutely loves people of all ages and is a total Velcro dog! However, she is more selective with her dog friends - got along fantastically with an easy going male, but did not like a more high strung female. No kitties for this big gal. She is one who would thrive in as an only dog so she can just spend time with her people. She enjoys a walk or hanging out in the backyard (including sunning herself), but isn't very high energy. She is also a great car rider and does pretty well on a leash. She has done well with her housetraining and crate training as long as she's kept on a schedule. She is VERY food motivated :)

Jerri's adoption fee is $200 and she comes fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. She is also heartworm negative and has been on monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Interested in meeting this special girl? Helping Paws provides all food, prevention, and medical care. You provide the love until we find a forever home!

Helping Paws, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
We are only able to adopt to families who reside in Indiana at this time. We have approved volunteers in this state only, who are able to support our adoption process and travel within 100 miles of Indianapolis. A completed application is required to initiate the adoption process. Remember to complete the entire application; leaving blanks will only delay the process. If you rent, please include landlords name and phone number. Also, please include your vets phone number, not just their name. The application is free to submit. Our Adoption Process The steps in our adoption process are outlined below. Our adoption process is slow and serious. We are dedicated to finding the RIGHT home for all of our dogs, so we are diligent and take our time. It is not a first come, first serve scenario. 1. You complete an Adoption Application and submit it to us. You can view our available foster dogs here. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, the adoption application is the first step. Because we are volunteer only and do not have a facility, an approved application is required before we can move forward with any meet and greets. 2. Our adoption team will process your application by contacting your veterinarian and personal references. 3. If things progress appropriately and your application is approved, we will set up a meet and greet with the dog and do a home visit at that time. 4. If the home visit goes well, we will move forward with when the dog will come and stay. With dogs over 6 months old or puppies with special needs, we do offer trial adoptions where you are able to see how the dog fits into your family before finalizing the adoption. *Please note that cats and pets adopted outside of the Indianapolis metro area do not qualify for trial adoptions. 5. Before finalizing the adoption, you will need to pay the adoption fee. Adoption fees vary from dog to do and will be listed on their individual bios. 6. Upon finalizing the adoption of your new family member, you will need to sign HP’s adoption contract which will be provided to you at the finalization. To fill out an application visit our website here. Click Adoption Application: www.helpingpawsonline.com
