Jericho's Story

Hey, y’all. Jericho here. Your very own ginger House Hippo. I’m a 3-year-old hunk who loves other dogs so long as I’m the most handsome. I’ve been poked, prodded, and somewhere along the way, lost my family jewels. I mean, who steals a guy’s coin purse?!

I recently completed professional training and would like to know when the heck y’all gonna catch up? You read that correctly. I. DON’T. BARK. Some of your dogs are currently screaming at a leaf three houses away, and I’m over here quietly minding my own business like a gentleman. Honestly, what more do you people want?
Now, before everybody starts fighting over me, management says I’m required to disclose a few things.

• Kids: I like kids! But preferably the kind who are at least 5 years old and figured out that dogs are not climbing equipment and our ears are not a snack!
• Other dogs: Yep.
• Cats: Let’s just say I found the cat portion of my evaluation VERY INTERESTING. Perhaps too interesting. The official recommendation is no cats.

I’ve also completed a four-week professional training program. I have credentials, people! Unfortunately, graduation did not magically remove every questionable habit I’ve acquired...
• I can be pushy.
• I can be mouthy.
• I jump when I get excited.

And my current approach to doorways is my theme song: "I came in like a wrecking ball!" We’re working on it. Give me a clipboard with structured, consistent, clear expectations? I do beautifully.

Which brings us to the important part: I am NOT your first dog! If your entire training philosophy is saying "No, sweetie" 17 times while I ignore you, this relationship will not flourish. I need an experienced dog owner who understands boundaries, follows through, and won’t cave just because I’m ridiculously handsome. Which I am.

I also need exercise — walks, hikes, puzzle toys, and adventures. Give me something productive to do with my brain and body and I’m a happy boy. I’m also a power chewer. Please do not hand me a stuffed bunny from the bargain bin and become emotionally attached to its survival. It will live approximately 3.2 seconds. Kongs and Nylabones are my jam.

I am currently being fostered in Waterloo, South Carolina, but I can travel out of state for the right home with my Doggie Passport. Just waiting for my first and final stamp! There might be a transport fee if volunteer transport cannot be found.

So if you’re an experienced dog person looking for a quiet, loyal, athletic, dog-friendly hunk who already has professional training and enough personality to keep things interesting... Remember me? Jericho? I am right here. You’ll get a side of Grade A Prime Beef and a whole lot of love!
