Jeremiah's Story
Jeremiah is a bulldog and a good friend of ours

Jeremiah is, as much as a dog can be, a bit of an ear worm - meet him once and before you know it you won't be able to stop thinking about his giant wrinkly face, dense little body, and constant soundtrack of snorting and grumbling as he goes about his life. Of course he's sweet and he's cute, but, far more importantly, he carries with him endless and enthusiastic obsession for toys. If you are a sore loser, please do not take Jeremiah up on his offer to play tug, even if he trots after you and nudges the toy into your hand hopefully. If you accept his challenge and pick up the toy, you have already lost the game because Jeremiah will not ever accept defeat when it comes to a game of tug. He's got the bulldog drive to play play play and not much lights his world up more than a new toy to chew or a person who loves competition as much as he does. He is friendly with new people but tends to be more interested in inviting strangers to a game of tug than climbing into their laps for a cuddle.

Jeremiah was previously found as a stray so we don't know his full history or experience with other animals. He was found with a female dog who he does well with, though doesn't show much interest in. He may not be house trained, and adopters should be comfortable giving him patience and guidance as he adjusts to the home and learns new routines. Jeremiah is brachycephalic and has an elongated soft palate which effects his ability to breathe. A PARL will be covering surgery to open his airway, but he needs to be in a home through his recovery period so he can relax and heal without the stress of shelter life. Jeremiah is looking for either a foster or foster to adopt home in Rhode Island or close enough that fosters would be able to bring him back as needed for recheck appointments.

PARL is open for walk-in meet and greets, if you are interested in a foster to adopt situation with Jeremiah please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and come in during our open hours. For any questions or if you would like to foster him during his recovery, please reach out to Claire at cshamgochian@parl.org
