Jenny's Story

Jenny - for adoption in mid-February after her spay. She is Heartworm positive....
If interested please complete the online adoption application on our website at http://www.floridayorkierescue.com

We are located in Palm City, Martin County.
We DO NOT have a public facility.
For additional information, please read below:

Jenny was left abandoned at a Construction site. Thankfully someone found her in time. She was pitifully thin and certainly did not look like these photos I just posted.

She is now a fatty patty at 8 lbs. and really needs to lose a pound. She grabs everyone else's food and scarfs it down like a vacuum cleaner but when you tell her to be gentle, she acts like a little lady.

Jenny has had all of her vaccinations and has had a dental cleaning. She is definitely not a senior, probably a young dog but we just will never know for sure. Her teeth look great.

Unfortunately as we ran our routine blood work it was discovered she was Heartworm positive. She has been on a few common medications which she is being weaned off of now but the next step is an aggressive cocktail of meds I do not want her to have. It is just too dangerous for such a little dog plus she would have to be kenneled or confined for months during the process. She does not do well in a kennel as she also has separation anxiety. I have had other small dogs over the years that have been heartworm positive and I gave them heartworm pills every single month; eventually they were heartworm negative. It takes a while but it works and it is far safer than the alternative. This is just my opinion. Veterinarians would probably not agree.

I do not want to keep her for a year and then find her a home. It is not fair to Jenny. She is friendly with other dogs but needs a new home where the owner is home most days. She will literally follow you everywhere. She loves to sleep in our bed and when she arrived she was TOTALLY HOUSEBROKEN. Due to the many pee wee pads we have here for our seniors she is now peeing on them as well but I know if you let her out often she will get back into the routine of being housebroken.

So... recap.... she is heartworm positive.
She has separation anxiety.
She will bark if she is not by your side always.
She is totally vaccinated.
She has had a dental cleaning.
She is microchipped.
She is being spayed in mid February.

Florida Yorkie Rescue
http://www.floridayorkierescue.com
floridayorkierescue@yahoo.com
We are located in Palm City, Martin County
We do not have a public facility
We do not adopt outside the State of Florida
