Jennae 's Story

My journey started off a bit scary. I was brought into the shelter on a catch pole by animal control—they just didn’t understand me yet. Once I arrived and the staff gave me time to decompress, they realized I wasn’t tough at all… I was just a scared little girl.

I’ve been at the shelter for about two weeks now, and because I’m still adjusting, I’m labeled as a possible flight risk, so I’m leash-walked for everyone’s safety. The funny thing is, once I leave the loud, overwhelming shelter building, my true personality comes out. My tail wiggles nonstop, and I “talk” a lot—I’m very expressive about what I like and what I don’t!

I’ve also shown interest in playing with other dogs, which is really exciting. For now, the staff want to focus on helping me continue building confidence and trust with people first, so I can be my best self. With patience, understanding, and a calm environment, I’m already showing that there’s a sweet, goofy, loving dog waiting to fully bloom.
