JELLY - COURTESY LISTING's Story
This is Jelly. Her date of birth was confirmed by the vet tech in Mississippi who had a litter of Border Collie Aussie mixes, 04/27/24. I found her at 6 months old as an injured stray, and took her in as a rehab and rehome. The vet tech didn't get the info about who bought her and let her get in the condition we found her in.

She has a healed hip injury that rarely bothers her, and is light heartworm positive. She already completed her first round of antibiotics and is on heart worm prevention, due for another blood test in July 2026. She is up to date, but unaltered. I'm against pediatric spay and neuter and deal with the first few heat cycles until my female dogs get spayed at 2-2 1/2. She will come with a new Seresto and her remaining heart worm prevention, feeding and walking accessories, toys, and her crate and bed.

She is typical for the breed, fetch obsessed and deeply bonded to her human. I've had other dogs that take advantage of my chronic illness, but this girl is a team player. She's helpful and patient and sweet. She's more on the cuddly side like an Aussie, loves being held and carried and is trusting with paw handling and grooming.

She's cautious of strangers and doesn't like when children run. She loves car rides and walks but isn't interested in pet friendly businesses. She is crate trained for bed and staying home alone, but over the last year with us she's shown she doesn't need it once she settles in.

I'm very impressed with her stability. Not a barker, doesn't destroy things around the house, no pacing or OCD behavior. I'm not at all the kind of person who needs a border collie, I am dog experienced but she is so well rounded and adaptable. I'm proud that I rescued her from the street, but also managed to train and socialize her from such bad beginning without ruining her with my lack of experience and consistent health and abilities.

She's good with house cats and other dogs. No experience with other farm or exotic pets. I have a 13lb senior dog and a 5year old cocker spaniel, they are too small and gentle for her. I'd prefer to see her and only dog or with those similar in energy and size. She's good on leash and playing fetch at the dog park. Far less reactive and concerned about dogs than other people.

We got attached and delayed rehoming for the last year, considering keeping her. My situation abruptly changed in the spring, bringing us from a homestead in Mississippi to an apartment in Richmond Virginia, with my roommates older dogs. Things took adjustment, but through the summer heat and then weak immune so this autumn, I'm realizing my illnesses are making caring for a dog with her needs an uncomfortable balancing act.
