JB's Story

JB is a 28 lbs Borgi about 1.5 years old. JB is a bundle of energy. He is intelligent, high energy and affectionate with his people, has a strong herding instinct and is playful. We understand that this breed is not for just anybody! We are looking for an active dog savvy home, preferable someone who is into dog sports. He is a quick learner and LOVES other dogs, especially larger dogs. He sometimes nips at heels and small children are not recommended. JB requires significant daily exercise and afterwards will fall asleep on your lap. He is a vocal watch dog, so a single family home would be best. He will also guard your home. JB is housebroken and crate trained. He is food motivated which helps a lot with training. He is currently in a foster home. He tested negative for heartworm/lyme, is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. $150 adoption fee. If you are interested please call us at 860-487-0137

Mansfield Animal Control's Adoption Policy

We offer a clean facility with helpful and knowledgeable staff. The staff and our many volunteers spend a lot of time getting to know, socialize and the training our pets. All pets receive medical attention, are checked for parasites and are groomed. All pets over 3 months old are spayed/neutered/ vaccinated and microchipped before they leave the shelter. Our pets are mostly Mansfield strays, some pets are surrendered by their owners. We use a pet adoption application to ensure the right match between pet and owner. The application needs to be pre approved before you visit a pet at the shelter. Our shelter is open to the public Mon-Sat 9am-4pm, but appointments are strongly preferred in the event one of our officers is on the road. If you visit our shelter prior to an approved application you are not permitted to interact with the shelter pets and it is “viewing only”. Our goal is to place our pets in responsible and stable homes. The animal control officer has the authority to approve, delay or deny any application. The adoption is not a purchase, it is a lifelong commitment. We offer a "trial day" for dogs. This is a day in which new owners get to know the dog in a home situation. We are always prepared to take a pet back if it doesn't work out. We strongly recommend group obedience training for a successful relationship with your new dog. You need to be a minimum of 21 yr. old to adopt a pet from us. We want the adoption process to be a positive experience. To learn more about the process please visit the website below.
