Jazz's Story

5/29/26 tm update F: "Jazz is settling in well. She didn't eat last night when I mixed the ID wet with kibble but she did eat plain kibble on her own time today mid day. I remember her having similar tendencies when we had her before paws intake so I'm not too concerned. She took her meds this morning in a small treat.

Mobility wise she definitely defaults to tripod mode when she wants to move quickly but she does seem to put weight on it when pottying, has toes down when standing still and weight bears briefly when excited and not focused on it. . She wanted to put her paws up on the baby gate when she first saw Bam. She even play bowed at him and had her foot down briefly while doing so when she was in the living room and he walked through on leash for his walk. Obviously no play allowed though. "

--------------------
My reply 5/30: "Thanks so much for the update! I'm glad to hear that she's using that leg at certain times. We checked in with her surgeon, and he confirmed that she had a very deep wedge that he created and will take a little longer to heal. It might take two weeks or so before she starts to put their foot down. He isn't wouldn't be worried at this point, but keep us posted on how she progresses.

The surgeon also confirmed that she should get her sutures out around the two-week mark (from 5/21) so around 6/4 through our Foster Walk-in Clinic. The hours are 9:30-11am Mon-Fri, Sat/Sun 9:30am-12pm. Please be sure to fill out this form before arriving: phillypaws.org/fwi. She shouldn't need another in person recheck or repeat xrays unless there are any concerns."
