Jay Golden Retriever & Basset Hound Mix Jacksonville, FL

Meet this sweet and gentle soul, a true gentleman, who recently lost his beloved Dad and no one else in the family was able to take him so thankfully Jay came to GREAT Rescue. Jay is a little lost right now without his Dad but thanks to a wonderful foster Dad , he is feeling sooooo much better each day and learning to enjoy life again. No get me wrong though, he is still a large boy weighing about 75 lbs.

His foster Mom tells us that he's an excellent boy in the house with no counter surfing, pottying, chewing or unnecessary barking. He goes for a walk each day and even walks faster now that he's lost some weight. He's excellent on a leash and does not pull. He is totally overjoyed when he sees another dog and even gets a bounce in his step when he sees children and men.

He will be the perfect companion for someone who is looking for a senior boy to lay by their feet and accept some snuggles. Since Jay is so eager to greet other dogs, we believe another senior dog would make a good companion for him in a home that is only adults. He is left alone at times when the foster mom goes to work but not for an 8-10 hour work day.

Jay is believed to be about eleven years old, is heartworm negative, neutered, current on all vaccinations, wormed, chipped and eager for his forever family. He appears to maybe be a Golden or Lab/ Basset Hound mix and is doing really well in losing excess pounds due to lack of exercise in his former home. A daily walk is a must for this boy to regain his youthful, svelte physique!!!. No more love handles for Jay!!!
