Jax's Story

Jax is a silly but shy guy with a sad story to tell as he was rescued in Alabama as part of a hoarding case. He was kept outside with multiple other dogs in crowded and cramped kennels, garbage all around, fighting for the basic necessities of life such as food and water and lacking in much needed medical care.

Dogs who live and grow up with little human interaction become under socialized. Despite all of that, Jax has learned to trust people even when they seem a little scary! He would prefer a quieter home, with older and respectful kiddos. Other dogs are what comforts Jax the most, so he'd do best with some furry friends to play with and befriend. Most of all, Jax needs a family that is going to love him and know that a baby step in the right direction is still a good step, no matter the size.

A word from Jax's foster: "Jax has really settled into his new foster home with 3 other dogs and 2 humans. Despite his traumatic past and lack of human interaction, within 24 hours he was up on the couch next to the other dogs, asking for pets. He goes from acting like an anxious scaredy-cat, to a regular lap dog as soon as he's on the couch. He rolls over on his back and lets you scratch his belly, his back paws, his award winning silky ears and loves, loves, loves the attention. So despite his outdoor living, he is loving the comforts of a warm home and lots of affection. He also loves to go on walks with the other dogs and prances and bounces with excitement. The other dogs bring him comfort and more confidence. He occasionally still has accidents inside, but is learning pretty quickly with treats and positive encouragement so that is happening less and less. It's been our pleasure to see him progress so much within a few weeks. All he needs is patience and love to continue progressing to achieve his future lap dog status."

For more information about Jax, please call or fill out an application!
