JAX Chihuahua & Pug Mix Farmington, MN

Jax is a sweet little Chihuahua/Pug mix. He’s said to be 1yr old and weighs about 15#.

He came to us from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky & he was pretty nervous the first couple days. Plus, MN is so cold this time of year! Brr! He needs a nice warm jacket & a nice warm bed to sleep in! He’s all cuddly with his foster family and does well with kids he can trust to be nice. He probably wouldn’t enjoy a home with toddlers or infants. He does well with 8 & up.

Jax does fine with other dogs but feels the need to hide his food around other larger dogs. They might steal it. He has 2 dog friends at his foster home, both bigger than him & he does fine. He will tell them if they’re getting carried away or too rough.

Jax isn’t potty trained just yet. He doesn’t like the cold and hasn’t had much leash experience so starting him on potty pads to get him through the winter months. No basic obedience knowledge just yet either.

He does well in his kennel for the workday and overnights. He likes a nice warm bed and we gave him a stuffed animal buddy.

Jax will bark if another dog is barking or howling, so probably no shared wall homes for this guy (especially if neighbor apartments/townhouse have dogs). He is quiet otherwise and you wouldn’t even know he’s there (besides those big puppy dog eyes begging to snuggle him).

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on Saturdays from 11am - 3pm at Lakeville PetSmart (located by Hy-Vee just off 160th & Pilot Knob) & Burnsville Petsmart (located just off Hwy 35E & County Rd 42 by Chianti Grill).

Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.

The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals!
