Java's Story

Meet Java

Java is a 4-year-old German Shepherd with a big personality, a playful spirit, and a heart ready for her forever home. She's an active, intelligent girl who thrives on engagement and adventure--especially long walks (bonus points if you let her proudly carry a toy the entire way!).

Java will do best with an adopter who has experience with shepherds and understands the importance of both mental and physical enrichment. We are primarily seeking an only-dog home for her. While she has lived with other dogs in the past, the shelter environment has affected her comfort level, and any potential canine companion would need to be tolerant of her persistence, enjoy rough-and-tumble play, respect her hind-end sensitivity, and be of similar size.

When meeting new people, Java may greet you with a big, loud bark--but she's never met a stranger she didn't like, especially if they're willing to explore the outdoors with her.

Java came to us experiencing urinary incontinence, and we've been working closely with our veterinary team to support her every step of the way. After weeks/months of visits, calls, and referrals, we now have a plan in place. She is scheduled for a cystoscopy consultation in May, which will help determine the cause of her incontinence and guide her long-term treatment or management.

The good news? Java isn't constantly leaking, and her incontinence isn't her fault. She's looking for a patient, understanding home that will keep her mind engaged through training, enrichment, and regular exercise while her medical team works toward answers.

We are committed to covering Java's veterinary care as we move forward and are incredibly grateful for the support of our community in making that possible.

Adoption fee: $250
To apply: https://fcrspca.org/adopt/
