Jasper(Gemstones Litter)'s Story
Meet the Gemstones Litter!
Born on February 4, this precious litter of jewels can't wait to go home and add some sparkle to your family.

At his intake exam in April 2025, Jasper weighed about 13 lb. At his neuter in Aug. 2025, he weighed 30.6 lb. He is up-to-date on core vaccinations, fully dewormed, and has been on monthly heartworm prevention since his intake in April 2025.

Jasper is a sweet, timid little boy. He will pull some on leash, but is leash savvy and loves going on sniff walks. He wants to run with his doggy friends in the yard and we will look for a family with another dog to help him build confidence. His foster is beginning to take him places so he can acclimate to riding in a car and investigating new places. It's important to continue this after adoption so he learns strangers are curious, not scary.

Jasper is house-trained when taken out every other hour for a potty break. Currently, he has a potty break immediately after waking, then a longer walk after breakfast. Potty breaks during the day every 2 hours (his foster takes him to the potty spot, 6 feet off the carport), then a longer walk after dinner with a potty break before bedtime. This allows him to keep his crate clean all night.

Jasper came from the rescuer's home, where there was a toddler, so has observed small children. Due to his timid nature, we believe his perfect family will have older children so there is less noise and chaos while he acclimates. He ignores the cats in his foster's home, and loves to play with the other dogs. He will chew - he's just a baby! - so supervision should be provided and gentle discouragement given if he picks up an unauthorized object. His foster trades him a chew toy for the object and he's learning to give up what's in his mouth.

Jasper is currently in a foster home with his sister, Pearl. They are the remaining pups from the Gemstones litter and are patiently waiting for God to send their perfect family.

**************************************************
IF YOU ARE USING PET FINDER:
Please go to our website, foothillscaninerescue.org
Choose Adopt/Adopt a Dog and find the dog you are interested in
Click "Apply for Adoption" button to fill out an application

ALL ADOPTERS:
When adopting an intact dog or puppy, a refundable $75.00 spay/neuter deposit is required. A vet reference may be required. The Adoption Counselor will explain this at the time of adoption.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed. If adopted into a home with other animals, particularly cats, your new pet should be crated or secured when you're not available to supervise to insure a harmonious relationship.

For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, heart worm (HW) test, HW prevention, and deworming if recommended by our vet.

Puppies will have two vaccinations, deworming, and heart worm prevention if age-appropriate. An additional fee for the 3rd puppy vaccination and rabies vaccination, if administered, will be added to the adoption fee.

Foster dogs are shown on a rotating schedule at our Saturday Adoption Events which occur several times a month at Waggin' Tail Resale store located at 220 Joyceton Church Rd, Lenoir. Additionally, Meet & Greets can be scheduled with a specific dog on Saturdays (11am-3pm) in our Adoption Center at Waggin' Tail Resale. Additional times for Meet & Greets may be scheduled depending on the schedules of Adoption Counselors and Foster Parents.
Shelter Dogs can be seen at the Bunch Anderson Shelter (BAS) on Saturdays from 12pm-3:30pm, or by appointment. To request an appointment, e-mail: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We will respond within 24-48 hours M-F.
(BAS is also located at 220 Joyceton Church Rd)
