Jasper's Story

Jasper loves getting outside, going on walks and exploring, and going to the dog park to play tag with the other dogs.
When I got him, he didn't understand fetch, but he's recently started to show interest in chasing a tennis ball at the dog park (but still doesn't know what to do with it once he gets it) At home, Jasper is happy on the couch, his dog bed, or his crate. Sometimes he'll relax in his crate on his own, and he does great being in it when he's home alone. And he also likes to have a stuffed toy or two around to play with.

He enjoys snuggling on the couch too, and its clear he's still got some puppy in him, because he doesn't sit still for too long before he starts squirming around and wanting to play a little bit. He's come a long way in just a couple weeks with some training. He's making progress on sit, shake, come, and heel.

He does great walking on a leash, and is curious but not reactive as we pass other dogs and people. Sometimes he'll get a little startled if a bike passes, so I just keep him to the outside of a path, which helps him feel a little more protected. Even though he doesn't completely have "heel" down yet, he still isn't aggressive or pulling hard and constantly on walks

When I first got him, he was definitely nervous being in a new house (and probably still stressed from his drive up from TX), but he's come a long way as far as being comfortable around me and my house. It's been great to see him make progress and open up as much as he has so far! He's got a very goofy, fun-loving, and sweet personality

If you’re interested in adopting Jasper, apply online at www.uppupandaway.org.
