Jasmine's Story

Hi, I'm Jasmine! I'm a 13-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua with a soft brown coat, a snuggly side, and a whole lot of love for the people I trust.

My life is changing through no fault of my own. My person is going through a divorce and relocating to a home where I can't come along, and sadly, there isn't another family member able to keep me. Saying goodbye is incredibly difficult for my person, so finding me a kind, patient home would mean the world to both of us.

I'm a senior lady, and have developed a heart murmur. However I still have plenty of energy to enjoy life! I manage stairs on my own and love a daily walk of a mile or more. I do well on a leash and get along with other dogs I meet. Honestly, some of my favorite activities require very little athletic ability: cuddling and belly rubs! At home, I'm used to having free run of the house, and at night you'll find me either sleeping in bed with my person or tucked into my own dog bed.

I have lived with a child from the time she was 1 until age 11, and while I can be nervous around children, I'm also gentle. My foster has been taking me on regular outings and I am learning to meet and feel comfortable around new people. Once you get to know me, you'll discover that I'm incredibly loving, loyal, protective, and snuggly.

What I really need is someone who understands that trust doesn't always happen overnight. Treat me with kindness, patience, and respect, and give me time to settle in. Once you're part of my trusted circle, I'll be very happy to repay you with loyalty, cuddles, and plenty of requests for belly rubs.
