Janie's Story

Janie is a cute but very shy girl who is looking for a quiet home to call her own. She is about 18lbs and possibly a Dachshund mix given her oblong body. She came from a place with too many animals and didn't get much human socialization, so she will need a loving and understanding adopter to let her go at her own pace.

Janie loves going outside to hang out with you in the yard so she can sunbathe with her dog companions, roll around in the grass, and wait for critters to go by so she can chase them off. She is not very playful and sleeps much of the day but she occasionally shows interest in a toy. Once she is comfortable with you she loves pets and belly rubs on the couch or bed.

Janie gets scared when being grabbed or picked up and she will steer clear when you walk toward her, but she also likes to be your shadow. She just can't make up her mind! She is very responsive to treats, routine , and positive reinforcement. She has been started on an anti-anxiety medication for now to help her settle in.

While Janie needs recovery after the stressful beginning to he life, she is still worthy of a loving home (much like those research beagles that many have shown interest in). She needs someone who is willing to move at a slow pace and appreciative of the small victories. Every time she reaches a milestone your patience will be rewarded.
