Jane's Story
Estimated to be around 9–12 months old and weighing in at just 8 pounds, Jane may be small in size, but she’s overflowing with love (and adorableness)! With her soulful eyes, irresistible underbite, and heart-melting snuggles, Jane is the kind of pup who will steal your heart in seconds—and never give it back.

Jane came into rescue after being hit by a car, which resulted in a significant injury to her back leg. She’s had orthopedic surgery and is healing like a champ! Her incision has healed beautifully, and while she’s not currently using the leg, we’re hopeful that with continued rest and time, she will begin to bear weight again. That said, she may need future surgery—or in some cases, amputation—depending on how her recovery goes. The good news? All medical costs related to her leg will be covered by HAPI.

Because of this, Jane's forever home must be either in the Lexington, KY area or with someone willing to travel there for her follow-up appointments until she’s cleared by her surgeon.

Jane’s Personality:
She’s pure love on four legs (well, three for now!). Jane wants nothing more than to be right next to her human—preferably curled up in your lap or snuggled in bed by your side. She thrives on attention and would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day to give her the love and companionship she craves.

But don’t let her healing leg fool you—Jane is also full of playful energy! She loves dragging every single toy out of her toy box and spreading them around like her own little treasure collection. She’ll even sneak off with the cats' toys if they leave them unattended (sharing is caring, right?). Her goofy and playful nature is sure to bring smiles and laughter to her future home.

She does bark on occasion when new people come around, but there's not a single ounce of aggression in her tiny body—just a lot of belly-showing, tail-wagging, and “please love me” energy.

Jane is thought to be a Chihuahua/Min Pin mix with a splash of Pug (hello, underbite!) and is still working on her housetraining. Because she currently lives in our rescue facility and not a home, she hasn't had the consistency needed to learn this yet. Her future family will need to be patient and ready to help her master the potty routine.

Her ideal home would include:

A person or family home often—she’s not a fan of long alone time.

A bed and couch she's invited (read: encouraged!) to snuggle on.

Gentle kiddos, if any—she needs to be handled with care due to her healing leg.

Someone patient and understanding as she works on potty training.

A love for underbites. Seriously. It’s her trademark.

Bonus points if you love tidying up toys... often.

If you’re in or near Lexington, KY and looking for a velcro dog with the sweetest face, a playful spirit, and the most loving heart, Jane is ready to be your shadow, your snuggle buddy, and your very best friend.

Ready to meet this pint-sized sweetheart?
