Jake's Story

Jake is a goofy 4-year-old male German Shepherd mix that weighs 70 lbs. Jake, his Mom, and his siblings were abandoned in a cardboard box outside the dumpster when Jake was just a puppy. All his siblings and his Mom have found loving homes, except for Jake.

He is an absolute sweetheart who loves to be petted, scratched, and cuddled. He will do anything for belly rubs, even from strangers, and lives his life with undeniable enthusiasm.

Jake is extremely intelligent and can easily pick up new commands, however, that doesn’t stop his loving personality from shining through. He particularly enjoys embedding himself into any commotion, whether he is needed or not, and will happily accompany his fellow humans during day-to-day chores, road trips, or lounging time. In addition to his unyielding loyalty, Jake is obedient, well-mannered, and affectionate towards humans of all ages. It’s very easy to be smitten with him.

Jake would be best suited in a home with an athletic or active family. He would love to accompany his fellow humans on hikes, runs, camping trips, or other outdoor adventures. Jake would also prefer a home that has another large-breed dog who can roughhouse with him (no smaller dogs).

Jake loves to play tug of war with his human and canine friends and has been trained to walk beside his foster Dad. The dog park is one of his favorite destinations as he is very athletic and has plenty of energy. He can run fast and far, so playing tag with him may be a challenge (on the human part). Jake is well-trained both on and off leash.

Jake is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. He is in excellent health. If you are interested in him, please go to the website: www.amrdog.org and complete the application.
