Jackson's Story

At a whopping 118lbs, Jackson has a whole lot of love to offer! Don’t worry, he walks well on leash despite his strength – he’s a gentle giant! Here at the shelter, Jackson has been receptive to meeting other dogs and may enjoy sharing a home with another dog (though he never has previously); If you have a resident canine, we recommend bringing them to meet Jackson to help ensure compatibility. Though he has not shared a home with children, we’re told Jackson has appreciated attention from kids in the past. Jackson has been diagnosed with a condition called hypothyroidism, which means he’ll need just a little extra TLC to live a long, happy life. An adopter should be prepared to dose Jackson with medicine daily and complete bloodwork in the future. If you have room for a very sweet, very gentle, very big boy, come by and get to know Jackson!

This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!

Be sure to check the "shelter information" box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Michael R. Frey Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours! Both of our locations are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays 12-5 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 12-7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on our adoption process, including requirements and fees, visit: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt
