Jackson's Story
Meet Jackson!

Nickname: Action Jackson
Breed: Bulldog/ Pittie Mix
Rescue: Albert’s Dog Lounge
Age: Adult
Weight: 48 lbs of pure compact joy
Current digs: Madison, WI

Anyone remember Sanford and Son? No? Go Youtube George Sanford. I'll wait. "This is it Elizabeth! I'm coming to join ya, honey!" Despite what he liked to think every time something didn't go his way, George was gonna outlive alllll of us, bad heart and all. That is Jackson.

This certified Good Boi has a heart condition called subaortic stenosis, discovered after he was found as a stray. He’s currently on medication (Atenolol, twice daily) and is doing great—no symptoms, no slowing down, and absolutely no clue that he’s supposed to be anything other than fabulous. He also takes Carprofen for some mild arthritis in his right hind leg. He runs, plays, races the other dogs up the stairs, and lives his life like a normal, happy dog. Our veterinary team will happily talk through all of this with potential adopters—we’ve got your back.

He was also recently neutered and had a bladder ultrasound (all normal!). He did have have some frequent urination/marking when roaming freely, but that has resolved and he potties like a rockstar.

Jackson loves his crate. Like, trots right in for a tiny treat and chills quietly all night loves his crate. He’s never had a poop accident in the house and stays clean in his crate. He sleeps soundly and doesn’t make a peep.

People: LOVES men, women, and assumes strangers are just friends he hasn’t met yet
Kids: Not tested in his foster home, but we assume he will be amazing with everyone. He is just that guy. Just a heads up, he’s working on keeping all four paws on the floor. He jumps with literal joy, so small kids may be at risk for getting knocked over in an abundance of happy.
Dogs: Great with dogs his size and larger; friendly and easygoing. He has not been around smaller dogs, but we assume he would be fine, as he is good with cats.
Cats: Yep! Lives peacefully with cats—no drama here

Jackson knows “sit,” might know “heel,” learns quickly, doesn’t guard food or toys, doesn’t panic when the vacuum comes out, and only barks when other dogs are doing it first (peer pressure is a thing). He’s quiet, undemanding, and just happy to be included in whatever’s happening around him.

Food: Wellness Lamb & Barley (1¾ cups, twice a day)
Snacks: Freeze-dried salmon, sweet potato chips, liver bits (yes please)
Hobby: Belly rubs. Full stop.
Shedding: Just the tiniest bit of glitter on your floor
Season Preference: Tolerates winter like a champ but would absolutely vote for spring
Walk out song: "I'm too Sexy" by Right Said Fred
Fashion: sunglasses and my cummerbund (belly band)

Jackson is what we lovingly call a total love muffin. He’s steady, gentle, affectionate, and completely unbothered by chaos. He wants a calm home, a soft place to land, and humans who will appreciate his squishy face, his upside-down snuggles, and his unwavering devotion. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will adore you with his whole heart (which, by the way, is being very well cared for), Jackson is ready to meet you. Come fall in love. We already did.

Neutered
Microchipped
Working on outside potty
Enjoys playing with dogs, but has not been around smaller pups
Enjoys laying belly up in your lap for tummy rubs
Up to date on vaccinations & preventatives

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $350, ($600 for a pair). Learn more about Albert's Dog Lounge, our mission, and adoption policies by visiting Albertsdoglounge.org.

Begin your application process by copying this link into your web browser: https://www.albertsdoglounge.org/apply

WI Dept. Of Agriculture License Number: 474085-DS

NOTE ABOUT AGING A DOG: Aging a dog, based on looking at them, is unreliable and usually inaccurate. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality and their needs.

Puppy - Under 6 months
Young Adult - 6 months to 2 years
Adult - 2 years to 8 years
Senior - 8 years to 12 years
Golden Oldie - 12+ years
