Jackrabbit's Story

Meet Jackrabbit!
This handsome fella is ready for his new home! He is about 3-4 years old and 45 pounds of fun. We believe he is an Australian Cattle Dog/Red Heeler. He has lots of great energy and would love a person or family to share his love of the outdoors. He would love an active person who wants to play (especially ball!), hike, walk and spend time with him. He will do best with an experienced owner willing to continue working with him, a fenced in yard or property is ideal. His trainer has taken him off leash in public and to restaurants where he proves to be relaxed and calm. He doesn’t want strangers to handle him but is good with men he trusts. He is good with women, not sure about kids or cats as we haven’t seen him around them.

Here is his story:
Jackrabbit (JR) was picked up as a stray in July of 2025. His time was up when a kind man pulled him and although couldn’t adopt him, wanted to help him. He saved his life! JR was moved from the kill shelter to a fabulous board n train in CA in August 2025 where his training has been sponsored ever since. JR has come a looong way. He loves to play fetch, play with toys, go on hikes and is a good swimmer. His very favorite thing is to play ball. If he has a ball, he is the happiest dog in the world and nothing else really matters. He is neutral with other dogs, fine with them but doesn’t seem interested, prefers females. He is crate trained. If you would like to make Jack Rabbit part of your family, just go to LuckyDayRescue.org to apply!
