Jack's Story

Jack / Male / 1 year old / 42 lbs / Hound-Lab Mix / Good with dogs / Untested with cats / Untested with children / From Mexico / Fostered in Toronto

**Follow Jack’s journey on Instagram @fosterthedogss

Meet Jack! Jack came to us from Mexico after he and his mom were found behind a gas station. Despite his difficult start, Jack has grown into a kind, gentle dog who is gradually gaining confidence and learning how good home life is.

Jack is a calm, affectionate but shy young dog who is still learning that the world can be a safe and friendly place. His foster family describes him as a very cuddly, love bug. He bonds with his trusted humans and is most comfortable staying by their side. Jack has been working each day to build his confidence so his adorable personality can shine through.

Jack is quite nervous around new people, places and things. He will look to his trusted human for comfort and direction and has made small gains during his time in foster care. Jack is curious and is showing signs of wanting to get to know people and dogs, but only once they have passed or are at a distance.

On leash, Jack walks nicely and has a low energy level. He enjoys quiet exploration and relaxed time with his people. Jack prefers a calm, quieter walking route as he builds his confidence and trust to the outside world. He has shown no signs of being reactive, but can get very scared and try to hide.

In the house Jack is a dream. He is crate trained and house trained and very chill. Napping, cuddles and a few chew toys and he is good to go. Jack’s foster family says he has great manners, and loves treats and learning new things. Although he does not love to be left alone, and wants to be where his person is, he will settle in his crate when needed.

Jack would thrive with a family in a quiet neighborhood where he can explore the world at his own pace. He will need structure, patience, and lots of love. A yard to run in would be ideal as he continues learning that life can be full of good things.

If you’re interested in adopting Jack, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form
Jack’s adoption fee is $850.

To learn more about our adoption fees and the process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.
