Jack

Jack and Jill (also available for adoption) were found together in the High Desert and taken to Devore Shelter. Sadly, they weren't claimed, so we welcomed Jack and Jill as Frosted Faces on December 2nd. Both Jack and Jill are estimated to be around 13 years old, weigh about 60 pounds each, and have the sweetest, most gentle temperaments. They share a lovely bond and would be happy to be adopted together, but they would also do just fine in loving homes individually.<br/><br/>Jack went on a 3-day Frosted Field Trip, and his foster mom had only wonderful things to report:<br/>"Jack is super friendly and calm with all people. He is great on a leash, very mobile for a senior, a good eater. He also knows some basic commands like come, lay down, and out!<br/><br/>Jack easily jumped into my trunk. He laid down in his bed and was mostly a chill passenger. Jack and I went on walks around my neighborhood, and he happily met my neighbors. I left my back door open to my fenced in backyard. He would let himself out and relieve himself.<br/><br/>Jack coexisted well with my senior Shih Tzu who is hard of hearing and has poor vision. He was not a fan of my cat, but he absolutely loved my kids. He would come to them when they called and would cuddle with them on the couch. I also brought Jack to my kids' school pick up, but we stayed on the side of the road where it was less busy. Then we walked to a cafe where he had a pup cup and met friends from school. He was aware of other dogs around us, but he never pulled or barked at them, just watched. We hung out at the busy playground/cafe area for about an hour then went home.<br/><br/>Jack walks so well on a leash. He does get a little distracted, but corrects easily and well, and responds to my clicks. I forgot how different life is when your dog can actually hear you. Lol! When we would eat meals at the house, he would smell our food and get excited. When he realized we weren't giving him scraps, he would go hang out back on our couch. I found that to be very respectful. He would also get out of my kitchen if I pointed and said, "out."<br/><br/>I only heard Jack bark at my cat twice, and another time when I left my house. I was watching him on our camera. After a few mins he took a nap on our couch. He slept on my couch at night and when we would be gone for short periods of time. My family and I feel so blessed to have spent time with Jack.
