Izzy's Story

Izzsy is a 1 year old purebred English Mastiff. She and her sister were the last of a litter of 12 that the previous owners were not able to place. They have not been socialized and are fearful of new things, however, they are very friendly with people and will readily shower you with kisses. Izzyis the more brave of the two. She is fawn in color. Izzy will need to go to a home where her new owner can spend a lot of time socializing her. Neither of the girls knows how to walk on a leash so we are slowly getting them accustomed to wearing a harness. They are doing well but still get spooked around loud noises. They spend a lot of time in the office with the shelter staff listening and watching. Izzy is very gentle and gets along with other dogs and cats. She really wants to be a lap dog and at 96 pounds that can be somewhat annoying, but also hilarious. We are also working on the way Izzy likes to lick your face, which may or may not involve trying to nibble your chin. These are things to consider when thinking about adopting Izzy. Although she is a gentle giant, some of her behaviors may be overwhelming for a small child. We are also working on potty training Izzy. We will not adopt her to an outdoor home so be prepared to deal with Matiff size messes (at least for a little bit). She is doing great and picking up on the command go potty but now needs to learn to hold it too.

Izzy is spayed and current on vaccinations. We are taking applications only and will be very selective about Izzy's placement. If you are interested in meeting her, come by the shelter at 1735 Monad or call us at 406-294-7387.
Check out our website to see a current picture of this beauty! www.yvas.org
