Izzy's Story

Izzy was brought into animal control as a stray and joined a foster-to-adopt family shortly after. She has been with them for about a month, and she is doing great, but it is clear that the other dog in the home is not willing to share attention, so we are now searching for a forever home for Miss Izzy.

Izzy is a one-year-old German Shepherd mix and currently about 50#. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Izzy is being fostered in Bay City, MI, and her adoption fee is $150. You can apply for her at www.mittenmuttsdogrescue.com/adopt

Below is more information from her foster mom:

Izzy currently gets along with the kids in the home, who are 8 and 9 years old. She hasn't been introduced to cats, but I feel she would be just fine around them because she is so calm.

I definitely recommend a fenced-in yard for Izzy. She likes a safe space to run around, especially when she gets the zoomies or attempts to chase squirrels. Izzy is currently crate-trained and has had zero accidents inside the crate. She loves playing with toys and is a happy girl if she has a bone or treat to keep her occupied.

Izzy does well on walks and does just fine in car rides- she really likes to stick her head out the window. Currently, Izzy knows basic commands, which are: Sit, Stay, Down, and go to your crate. She also knows, ‘take it nice' when receiving a treat. We are working on laying down and shaking. She doesn't have any known medical issues or behavioral issues.

She is the absolutely sweetest dog, loves cuddles and a comfy place to sleep. She deserves the best, and we are heartbroken that it is not with us
