West Haven Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
We welcome adoption inquiries from far and wide!
To adopt from us, you will need to fill out an application, which will then have to be approved by our Animal Control Officers. If you already have another dog, we encourage you to bring it with you to meet the animal you are interested in. We have areas set up at the shelter to introduce dogs and see how they get along together.
Please note, animals are not adopted on a first come, first serve basis. We need to make sure it will be the best match for both you and the animal.
Adoption hours are 11am to 3pm EVERY DAY. We take in and adopt out an enormous number of animals. Some animals come and go very quickly. If you see an animal you like on this site, come visit us immediately and often! Even if the animal you were interested in has been adopted, we may have others that haven't even been posted yet. And don't forget to spay or neuter your pet!!! Thank You!
