Ivory's Story

💛IVORY is a stunningly beautiful 4 month old puppy who weighs 17 pounds.
She's living with a lovely Foster family who share that she's a perfect mix of gentle, calm, and quietly sweet. We're not exactly sure of her breed - she may have some Lab, Husky & maybe even Shiba Inu too. All we know is she's 100% adorable.

Ivory brings a peaceful, loving energy into a home. She’s happy to entertain herself with toys, enjoy a cozy nap, or relax nearby while you go about your day. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but she settles in nicely and grows more comfortable each day. Once she feels safe, her soft, affectionate personality really comes through — she loves pets, belly rubs, and just being near her people.

✨ Dog-friendly with slow, thoughtful introductions as she continues gaining confidence
✨ Calm, easygoing temperament
✨ Loves belly rubs + affection
✨ Independent but likes to keep tabs on her people
✨ Quiet overall (with a few happy little whines + soft play barks)
✨ Sleeps through the night in her crate (and even tucks herself in for naps!)
✨ Doing great with handling — paws, ears, baths, nails ✔️
✨ Working on potty training, leash skills, and basic commands

Due to her age, Ivory will need an adopter with a flexible schedule to continue building on potty training, crate training, and all the important puppy basics. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get more info and photos of this sweet little girl! We think she's going to be very popular so suggest doing an Application that you'll find on the lrhrescue.com site.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
