Isla's Story

Meet Isla!

Some dogs wear their stories on their hearts. Isla wears hers in a few scars and a cute crinkled ear. Whatever she's been through before finding safety, she hasn't let it steal her love for people.

According to the shelter, Isla was abandoned twice. Despite being let down by humans more than once, Isla still believes every person she meets is a potential best friend.

If cuddling were an Olympic sport, Isla would be bringing home the gold. She is a professional couch potato who can usually be found stretched out in the warmest sunny spot of the house, preferably in a full sploot. Belly rubs are not optional. Stop rubbing her belly before she's ready, and she'll happily let you know your services are required immediately.

She enjoys leisurely walks and has excellent leash manners, but don't expect her to train for a marathon. About 15 minutes in, her adorable little legs decide they've had enough, and she'll simply plant herself until she's ready to continue. It's hard to argue with that level of confidence.

Isla also loves splashing in the hose, thinks peanut butter-filled Kongs are gourmet dining, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even cats. She's crate trained, house trained, knows "sit," walks beautifully on leash, and is learning even more every day.

Like many dogs, fireworks have make her nervous. She also has a strong opinion about rabbits, which she has declared her lifelong enemies. If one appears, expect enthusiastic bunny patrol complete with some hilarious squealing commentary.

Isla would thrive in a home that enjoys the slower side of life. She'd love another dog around her size, a comfy couch, plenty of belly rubs, and a family who will never make her wonder where she belongs again.

She's spent enough time being left behind. Now she's ready for the forever home she always deserved.

EST. DOB: 06/13/2020

Ready to give Isla the happily-ever-after she's been waiting for?
