Isaiah's Story
Meet Isaiah!

If you're looking for a small, but active companion whose absolutely favorite place in the world is your lap, look no further than Isaiah.

He spent about a month in a foster home to better assess his personality and needs. Here's what his foster had to say,

"He is an active dog that will require daily exercise. Be prepared to engage him for about 30-45 minutes per day. He does well on a long line, but would also love a fenced-in yard so he can stretch his legs (although they are quite short).

He LOVES toys. Watching him wrestle, pounce, chew on, and chase his stuffies and balls will be your daily entertainment. Toys, puzzles, and hard chews are a great way for him to independently entertain himself.

He is one smart cookie and has the tenacity his breed is known for! His new owner should be prepared to train with consistency or they might find themselves trained instead. He will work for toys or treats, so training is a breeze, in that respect. He is eager to please, but will need clear boundaries. He is a great problem solver and has had fun learning lots of silly dog tricks (watch the video to see!)

He takes his neighborhood watch duties seriously. However, he is amenable to being redirected.

He is very people friendly if they let him engage first, but he gets nervous/agitated if people bend over him or try to pick him up. First meets are best done with the person sitting or squatting down, so that he feels safe to approach.

He seems to like children of all ages, however, he does have epic zoomies that cross both horizontal and vertical planes, so little kids might find themselves knocked down by a flying terrier.

He does well being crated (in a mid-sized crate) while humans are away at work and overnight. He hasn't had any accidents in the home.

He can calmly co-exist and briefly play with my large dog (who has excellent dog-skills). Isaiah doesn't like to play for very long with other dogs and would need direction / management / slow intros if he were to be a successful part of a multi-pet home. He would also be great as an only dog."

If Isaiah sounds like your kind of guy, stop by and meet him today!

Male
1 year (appx.)
19 lbs

---------------------------------------------------
Hours: 11am-7pm Tuesdays & Fridays
11- 4pm All Other Days
No appointments required

Disclaimer: Please only use our website (https://www.hshobart.org/adopt/adoptable-animals) to apply for pets.
