Maybe I'm a good fit for your family. Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I am learning some things in my foster home. For example, I am making great progress with my house training. I rarely have any accidents anymore, and I am completely crate trained. And guess what else I know - I know the commands "sit," "down," and "come." Are you impressed? I admit that I'm pretty proud of myself for knowing so many things.

Do you like to play? So do I! Maybe we can play all kinds of games together. Of course, I will have to meet you and get to know you first. When I meet someone new, I do tend to get a bit nervous. Strangers can be scary. However, if the person spends some time with me and offers some treats, it doesn't take very long for me to warm right up and consider that person a friend.

When I'm frightened by something, such as a new person or a loud noise, I freeze. If the source of the fear goes away, then I quickly recover. If I get really scared, I just run in the other direction. I think it's best to get as far away from danger as possible. I have been known to jump when I am startled by quick movements. Once I realize what is going on, I settle right down.

I hope you like going for walks. I enjoy walks and only pull a little bit on my leash. My foster mom told me to tell you that I can be stubborn. I don't know why I need to say this, since I am a beagle. Don't the two go paw in paw? Anyway, if we are out for a walk and I disagree with the direction we are going, I will simply sit down. No, I'm not budging until we head somewhere else. I think it's a cordial way to make my feelings known.

Mostly, I really am a love bug, and I overheard my foster parents discussing that I am smart. Some of my favorite activities are burrowing in blankets and sunbathing through a sunny window. I sure hope that my future family sees this and realizes that I am a good catch. I'm really looking forward to having a home of my very own.

------

B.O.N.E.S. is a foster-home-based rescue organization serving dogs and potential adopters in the New England states.
