Irish's Story

Irish is a 2-year-old hound, Labrador, and pittie mix with a friendly personality and a steady, easygoing presence. He is an incredibly loving and sweet dog with an amazing level of attention to his people—he truly enjoys being close to his humans and thrives on connection and affection. He’s a snuggler at heart and loves spending time relaxing with his family.

Irish is good with people and enjoys being part of the action. He also gets along well with other dogs and can be a great companion for a canine sibling. He walks nicely on a leash and rides well in the car, making him a solid partner for everyday outings and adventures.

He is house-trained and crate-trained. Irish is very responsive to routine and structure and goes right into his crate when told “in your pen.” He is calm and quiet when crated, and this has been used successfully for nighttime and when leaving the home for extended periods. He is smart and eager to please and listens well to most basic commands, though he is still working on mastering “down.”

Irish does need a home without cats or small animals, as he has a strong prey drive typical of his breed mix and should not be placed with small critters.

As a young, active mix of working and sporting breeds, Irish will thrive in a home that can provide regular exercise, mental stimulation, and continued training. He especially benefits from having space to run and play, along with structured outlets for his energy. He enjoys walks, playtime, and opportunities to engage his mind, and he will continue to flourish with consistent guidance and positive reinforcement.

Irish is a loyal, affectionate, and people-focused dog who is ready to bond closely with his family. With the right balance of activity, structure, and love, he will be an outstanding companion.

Adoption application is available on our website: www.puppypawsrescue.org
