Once I know you and feel comfortable, I'll trust you with all my heart. My favorite place to be is right beside my people, whether we're snuggling on the couch or heading out on an adventure together.<br/><br/>I can be a little nervous when meeting new people, so I need someone who is willing to let me take things at my own pace. If I feel overwhelmed or pushed past my comfort zone, I may bark or lunge. But with patience, consistency, and positive experiences, I can learn that new people aren't so scary.<br/><br/>And if you really want to become my best friend? Bring treats! Food is definitely the <br/>way to my heart. <br/><br/>General Socialization Notes:<br/>I'm crate trained and obedience trained, and I know lots of cues! I can sit, down, recall, place, stay, and heel. I am also good for grooming, I'll jump right into the bath, and I'll stand on the table for blow drying and a haircut. My previous owner also taught me to turn on cue so she can get my other side while I'm being groomed!<br/><br/>I'm generally a good girl on leash, although I can occasionally get excited and pull. I'm looking for someone who will continue helping me build confidence and feel more comfortable around new people.<br/><br/>Does Iris like other animals?<br/>I do well with other dogs, but I'll need slow, thoughtful introductions so everyone can make sure we're a good match. I would do best with dogs around my size or larger, or I'd be perfectly happy being your one-and-only pet.<br/><br/>Does Iris like children?<br/>When it comes to children, I'd do best with older children who understand how to respect my space and give me time to feel comfortable. Children 12 years and older may be best.<br/><br/>Favorite Toys:<br/>My favorite toys are soft, fluffy toys, but my absolute favorite is my sheepskin tug toy. I love tugging, and I'm pretty proud to say I can even fetch it and drop it!<br/><br/>Ideal Forever Home:<br/>I would feel best in a home that understands that I need time to feel comfortable around new people, to let me meet people at my own pace. I look forward to training! I also need a home without small children. I can live with another dog or be by myself. I can't wait to meet my new family!!
