Iris's Story

6 yr old Iris was surrendered to us because of changing family circumstances.

Iris is very gentle in nature, not a big jumper and pretty calm in the house once she is settled. House, and crate trained (although not her favorite place to be) and remote collar trained, Iris is a glove/sock thief who enjoys stealing gloves and bringing them outside. She can't have any bedding in her crate because she really enjoys shredding anything in her crate.

Iris acts like everything in a home is foreign so we don't believe she lived inside before. She is terrified of tile flooring, so throw rugs are necessary. She is also afraid of the dishwasher and refrigerator. Anything kitchen related is scary... which means she is the only GSP alive that does not counter surf! She is currently being boarded with our trainer and is getting one on one obedience training and learning to live in a home.

Iris' only flaw is that she doesn't like to be bothered when she is sleeping by other dogs or people; she will jump up fast and grumble if she is startled while sleeping or falling asleep. No nipping or lunging, just grumbles and jumps up and moves. It definitely seems to be more of a startle response vs guarding so she's not allowed on the furniture. Iris is being trained to go lay on a big comfy bed in the living room and everyone knows not to bother her when she is there. We think she'll need a home with older kids who will respect the sleeping boundary.

Iris loves daily exercise so a securely fenced yard is a must.
