Ike's Story
Ike -male.
Pit Mix
Dogs, Cats, kids.
1 Year
45lbs.

Ike was found alone and injured on the Eisenhower Expressway in Chicago. He had a fractured pelvis and couldn’t walk. He was brought into the emergency vet by a Good Samaritan. He was so grateful to be rescued he barely acted like he was in any pain. The wonderful men & women at VEG nursed him back to almost full health (he’s still talking it easy for another couple weeks), and then asked us to take over. He was so adorable that one of his vet tech caretakers at the ER, offered to foster him.

While Ike still can’t run and play like a young dog his age would like to, he’s still very much enjoying his new life. His foster dotes on him. He’s also been able to make friends with her cat and several dogs in the building she lives in. She’s been keeping him busy with puzzles and bones, which he can’t get enough of. He is crazy about his frozen Kong he gets daily along with some other time taking treats his foster has created for him to help pass the time.

While he still has a short time left where he needs to continue taking it a little easy, he is ready for his forever chapter now. He would love an active home. He could have fur brothers and sisters (feline and/or canine) or be the only dog. He fits into more scenarios than not. He’s just happy being included.
