Iggy's Story
Meet Iggy!
Iggy is a one-year-old Siberian Husky (DOB 6/27/2024) who is truly a hidden gem. He is one of those rare huskies that seems to have been born to be a family dog. Sweet, gentle, and incredibly well-rounded, Iggy loves being close to his people and will happily lay at your feet or on his bed just to be near you.

Iggy is fully house trained and crate trained, though he will test a crate at first. He does need a heavy-duty crate or one that is well secured, as he can be a bit of an escape artist until he realizes he cannot get out. Once he settles, he relaxes and sleeps calmly in his crate without any issues.

He is wonderful with other dogs and joins right in like it’s a play date. He loves being part of the action but also knows when he’s had enough and will go lay down to relax, usually right by your side. Iggy is also cat friendly.

One of Iggy’s most amazing qualities is how fantastic he is with children. He has lived with young kids and is currently around children ages 11, 8, and 4 in his foster home. He lets them hug him, pick him up, dance with him, dress him up, snuggle him, and even pile blankets on him. He is gentle, patient, and takes food nicely without grabbing or diving for dropped food. He truly is kid-proof.

Iggy has excellent leash manners, behaves beautifully in public, and rides perfectly in the car, laying down calmly for the entire trip. He enjoys being outside until his feet get cold, then waits patiently to come back in — only to be ready to go back out again a few minutes later. He loves stuffed toys and bones and will happily join in a game of tug if another dog invites him.

In the mornings, Iggy becomes the sweetest alarm clock, gently coming to the side of the bed and softly whining to go out. If your hand is nearby, he’ll give it a loving lick. While he isn’t highly food motivated, he will sometimes pretend to be when the rest of the pack is getting treats — especially if you offer one just for him.

Iggy does have a prey drive and cannot live with chickens, but otherwise he is a truly bomb-proof Husky who would do wonderfully in almost any loving home, with or without other dogs. He is looking for a family that wants to include their dog in everyday life and give him the forever home he deserves. Iggy is in a loving foster home located in Saginaw, MI.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete and submit an adoption application.
