Ice (MR26-327)'s Story
Ice is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm and will need to return to NMDR for continued care. Adopters must strictly follow the treatment plan as outlined by NMDR veterinarians.

Ice is a 7-year-old, 47-pound Husky with a calm, steady demeanor and an easygoing presence. She is food motivated and walks nicely on a leash, making her a pleasant companion for relaxed outings and daily strolls.

Ice tends to be more independent and is often more interested in quietly exploring her surroundings than seeking constant attention. She enjoys taking in the world at her own pace and appreciates the freedom to observe and investigate her environment. She also enjoys toys and will accept affection, showing a softer, affectionate side during calm moments.

At the shelter, we have observed that Ice shows a high level of excitement toward smaller animals. Because of this, she should not be placed in a home with small animals or cats. She does best with dogs her size and generally coexists well with them, though she is often more neutral and prefers to focus on her own activities rather than social engagement. A home without young children is preferred, and adopters should use caution and appropriate supervision when introducing her to new dogs or people.

Ice is looking for a patient, calm home that will allow her to move at her own pace and continue to enjoy life in a low-pressure environment where she can simply be herself.
------
Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!
