Ice's Story

LOCATION: Bethlehem, CT
DOB: Approximately 02/2021 (5 years old)

Meet Ice, a striking merle Great Dane with a tall, lean build and a soft, thick coat. Ice is an intelligent, attentive boy who forms deep bonds with his person. When you call his name, he will come, sit, and look directly into your eyes, fully focused and ready for direction. Northeast adopters are preferred.

Ice thrives on human connection and wants to be close to his people as much as possible. Like many Danes, he expresses affection with the classic “lean,” often pressing his full weight gently into those he trusts. He is highly responsive to engagement and does best when he feels included and guided.

Ice is neutered, crate trained, potty trained, and Sprenger collar trained. He understands structure and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. He is eager to please and does best with an experienced handler who can continue reinforcing boundaries and expectations.

Ice is intelligent and active-minded. Without adequate structure and mental stimulation, he can become bored and destructive. Providing durable chew items, routine, and purposeful engagement helps him remain balanced and content. He benefits from predictability and consistent daily expectations.

Ice bonds deeply to his people and can exhibit resource guarding of human attention in multi-dog settings. With firm, fair correction and consistent management, he responds appropriately. Because of this tendency, he is best suited as the only dog in the home. Placement with an experienced owner who has a submissive large-breed female may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Ice should not be placed with male dogs, small dogs, cats, rabbits, livestock, or other small animals.

He would do well with older, respectful children who understand boundaries and large-breed behavior. He is not recommended for first-time dog owners. His ideal home is calm, structured, and led by a confident, experienced large-breed handler committed to maintaining training and providing consistent leadership.

Ice has been through significant transitions but remains loving, loyal, and deeply devoted to his person. In the right home, he will be an incredibly affectionate and attentive companion who simply wants guidance, connection, and stability.

All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are available here:https://linktr.ee/Srgdrr

If donating, please note who or what your donation is for.

Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
