Hutch's Story

Meet Hutch!
Dog’s Name: Hutch
Age: Almost 4 years
Weight: Approximately 60 lbs
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Background & Story:
Hutch has been a beloved family member since he was just 8 weeks old. Now, he’s looking for a loving home where he can receive the attention, care, and companionship he truly deserves. He’s currently adjusting well in foster care and continues to show just how loyal and loving he is.

Personality & Skills:
Hutch is an affectionate, people-oriented dog who forms strong bonds with his humans. He’s been settling in nicely and is even starting to warm up to new people in the home.

He walks great on leash and does well using a halti, though he doesn’t tend to pull much—especially in the backyard. He’s fully house trained, knows basic commands, and is overall a well-mannered companion. He’s also comfortable in the car for short trips and has shown no signs of illness—he’s eating, drinking, and maintaining normal routines.

While he may be a little skittish when meeting new people in the home, he adjusts with time and reassurance. He has not shown reactivity to people, dogs, or small animals in passing.

Behaviour Notes:
Hutch does not enjoy being left alone and can become anxious, even for short periods, so he would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. He is not crate trained and currently does not use a crate, and when left alone he may pace or bark, as he thrives on companionship and routine. Hutch can also be a bit nervous in certain situations, including on non-carpeted floors or around sudden noises. He is currently living with another dog and, while a little unsure due to not being fully welcomed, he coexists well overall.

Ideal Home Environment:
- Children over 10 years old
- Men and women
- A home where someone is home most of the time
- Carpeting or rugs to help him feel secure
- A calm, patient environment with routine

Compatibility:
Dogs: Yes, with proper introductions
Cats: Unknown
Kids: Yes, older and respectful
New People: Initially shy, warms up with time

What Hutch Needs in a Forever Home:
Hutch is looking for a patient and understanding home that can support his need for companionship and help him feel safe and secure. He thrives on closeness and would do best with a family that is around often and willing to work through his separation anxiety with consistency and care.

This sweet, loyal boy is ready for his next chapter. With the right home, Hutch will be an incredibly devoted companion who gives so much love in return.
