Hunter's Story

Hunter is a one-year-old, LARGE fellow. Our best guesses at his breed are Irish Wolfhound? Great Dane/Poodle mix? Wire-Haired Mini Horse? Whatever he is, he is a big and very strong guy who will need some training to help him be more manageable on a leash. He would likely do well in a fenced yard, where he can romp and play while you get to keep both your arms attached to your body!

Hunter came to us with two cherry eyes, that have been repaired. He will need to be in a cone for a while until everything is completely healed.

He would likely do OK with another dog, but he 100% chases cats and other small animals. Due to his large size he would also do best in a home with adults only, or older kids.

He is still a puppy at heart, so loves to rip up toys or bring you stray shoes when he wants to play. Working with a professional trainer will help you learn how to communicate with Hunter so you end up with a stellar, well-behaved pup. Ready to take a chance on a goofy, giant whatever-he-is? Apply today!

We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquires; we only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires.

We never know how quickly a pet will be adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in a pet but want to see them during our shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, we strongly recommend that you email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there.

Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. When you first arrive at our shelter, you will be asked to fill out a brief survey, which helps us to find the right pet for you. Our adoption counselors act as “matchmakers” and will work with you to find the right match - for both you and the animal - based on the information you have given us.
